The famous Bibbulmun Track is one of the world’s great long distance walk trails, stretching 1000km from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills, to Albany on the south coast, winding through the heart of the scenic South West of Western Australia.
On this tour, we begin at the Mundaring Weir Hotel, where we will be chauffeured by private charter to the very start of the Bibbulmun Track, in Kalamunda. From there we will enjoy a one way adventure on the iconic track through to Mundaring Weir.
This is Part 1 of our Bibbulmun Track Series, and showcases the sweeping views of Beelu National Park, Kalamunda National Park, and Mundaring Weir. Enjoy lunch at the Mundaring Weir Pub if you wish to stick around post hike! This is a great introduction to long distances on the Bibbulmun Track, and shows you what a day hike on the trail feels like.
We meet for our day of adventure at the Mundaring Weir Art Gallery. We then jump on a private bus, and travel for about 25 minutes to the start of the Bibbulmun Track at the Northern Terminus in Kalamunda.
We head off on our hiking journey through Kalamunda National Park, featuring many lovely granite rock formations, and depending on the time of year, we might be lucky enough to see Piesse Gully flowing. We continue on to the Camel farm, which is a popular coffee stop on the weekends, and you are bound to see the camels providing rides for visitors.
We stop at the Camel farm where you can rest your legs, and visit the local cafe to sip a cup of tea or coffee before continuing on.
A few km's on from the Camel Farm, we come to Hewett's hill. This is the first campsite on the trail, and we are now 12km into our hike. Now we continue on a very gradual decline towards Helena Valley, and enter the Beelu National Park. We come across our main climb of the day, and then get to enjoy the beautiful views across the dam from the Golden View Lookout.
The final 2km of the trail takes us from the glorious lookouts down to the Mundaring Weir. A beautiful section with marvellous views and a great downhill section to enjoy a little rest.
