Tour Overview

This school holidays, let your kids wild side explode, through our range of guided hiking experiences.  Our program helps children get into nature, get their hands dirty and have fun learning new skills.  Through hiking and customised age-appropriate activities, they’ll experience:

  • Movement – Let their feet do the talking, and give the screens a miss for a few hours.
  • Connection – To the environment around them, to the importance of nature and to each other. Watch as they learn new skills in communication and curiosity.
  • Nature at its finest – immersion in the Australian bush for a 3 hour guided hike and workshop through John Forrest National Park.

The program is run over two weeks, with two sessions per week. You can choose to join one session, or multiple. Each session covers different topics!

Tuesday 6 July John Forrest National Park – Trekking For Treasure

Get your child ready for a morning filled with adventure with this explorer-themed scavenger hunt which takes place as we hike through the forest.

Thursday 8 July Yanchep National Park – A Mindful Mover ‘N’ Shaker

Time to increase your child’s self awareness, and sense of space, while finding some zen, with mindfulness activities along the hiking trail, including a stop to do some yoga out in nature. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of moving and shaking as we go, including some fun mindful activities for the more active of children.

Tuesday 13 July John Forrest National Park – Make your Own Adventure & Storytelling

Let your children be inspired by the rugged natural landscape around their path, as they explore storytelling activities that let their imagination run wild.

Thursday 15 July Yanchep National Park – Muddy Make And Create

Your child will get their hands dirty on this hike, with nature-based art activities that show the beauty of nature and give them inspiration to create.

Toilets are available at the tour start point.
National Park entry fees apply. We recommend investing in a parks pass if you use the national parks more than 4 times per year. You can get this for 50% discount through RAC insurance inf you have a poliy with them, or as a member of WA Parks Foundation. Alternatively, you can pay per vehicle at the entry to the National Park, which is $15 per vehicle.
JOHN FORREST - We will be meeting at far carpark in the park. You will see the toilets on the left, and the ranger office/ Margaret Forrest centre on the right.

YANCHEP - Thursdays are at Yanchep and we will be meeting at the Yanchep Inn carpark.
this activity is tailored specifically for the little ones! The hike is accessible for ages 6-13 and accompanied by a qualified primary school teacher as well as support guide.
No-shows and cancellations received within 48 hours of hike departure will incur a 100% cancellation fee.

Cancellations within 2-7 days prior will incur a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations received over 7 days in advance will receive a full refund or credit towards another hike experience. Please note that Rezdy fees are non refundable. Guests can transfer their booking to a friend with no penalty but must advise The Hike Collective so we can forward all booking information to the new attendee.

If The Hike Collective cancels an event due to weather or danger in any way, your ticket will automatically be moved to the new date, or you will be eligible to transfer amounts paid to another tour or receive a full refund.
We are aware of the current situation with regards to COVID-19 and are working with our team and guests to ensure the safety and health of all of those we come into contact with. Our tours are currently limited to 18 guests and 2 hike leaders. We request that all hikers and hike leaders maintain the 2m social distancing required by law at this time. If you are unwell at the time of the tour commencing, we request that you remain at home and get in touch with us regarding transferring your ticket to another date. We appreciate your understanding at this time and thank you for supporting local.
