Day 1: (Hiking distance From 5-18 km)
Check in with The Hike Collective at The B-Shed ferry terminal in Fremantle and board the fast ferry on our short 30-minute ferry trip to the Island.
When you arrive at Rottnest Island, refresh with a barista coffee or fresh juice at the Lane Cafe before we begin our hiking adventures.
The hiking fun begins with a short transported trip to the West End where we embark on the Ngank Wen Bidi (Explore West End), Take a moment to enjoy the beautiful views at Cape Vlamingh, before heading onto Catherdral Rocks, where we can view the seals from the viewing platform, providing the perfect vantage point to watch the New Zealand fur seals frolicking. Our next stops are Mabel Cove and Marjorie Bay. Feeling good with calling it a day here? You have the choice after lunch to jump on the Island bus and head to the tents for a relaxing afternoon.
Chosen to stick around for the afternoon? Part two of day one will bring us onto the Karlinyah Bidi (Experience the Northern Beaches) as we make our way along the northern coast of Rottnest. We begin at Rocky Bay as we head through Narrow Neck, and onto Ricey Beach for another beautiful beach section. We navigate through rugged, rocky terrain, on the trickiest part of today's journey.
Now, we merge onto the City of York Bay, and learn about the shipwreck and then take in the serrated reef that was the cause of such destruction. Further along, we enjoy sweeping views of Catherine Bay and watch for pied oystercatchers at the water’s edge, before our final section past little Armstrong Bay and into our accommodation.
We arrive into camp with a few hours of sunlight remaining to settle in with a nice hot shower and put your feet up before we join together for a beautiful 3-course dinner.
Rest and put your feet up in luxury, as we check in to Discovery Rottnest Glamping tents. Take a dip in the private resort pool, or relax in nature in the comfort of your tent before dinner.
As the sun sets, we will meet at Lontara for a beautiful 3-course dinner, and time to reflect on our favourite bits of the south of the Island.
Day 2: (Hiking distance approx. 5-18km)
Day two begins with an indulgent buffet breakfast at Pinkies beach Club before embarking on our second day of hiking.
Now it's time to walk out of camp as we combine the serene salt lakes with a rich history and tackle the southern side of the island and the stunning salt lakes.
Marvel at the birds dancing on the salt lakes, recognised as wetlands of National Importance, and relax on Salmon Bay. Explore the Wadjemup lighthouse, and enjoy a pitstop for some lunch with a view, before heading on to admire huge Osprey stacks at salmon point, before marvelling at the crystal clear waters of Parker Point.
Explore the Ngank Yira Bidi Trail (uncover Bickley Battery) from Porpoise Bay, Henrietta Rocks, and Jubilee Hill, walking to the highest point of the Bickley Bay area and enjoying 360 degrees view of the Island and surrounding waters. Our last stop of the day is the Bickley Battery, where we can discover the rocky intertidal shores on our journey back to Thomson Bay to conclude your Trail retreat of Rottnest Island.
We board our ferry and begin our journey across the sea to Fremantle where our journey comes to an end in time for the sun to set.
