We welcome you to an incredible experience in nature supported by the WA Parks Foundation as part of Spring into Parks. Adventure through the trails of WA’s first National Park as you learn fascinating stories of John Forrest National Park and encounter the sights and sounds of birds, reptiles, frogs, kangaroos and waterfalls as you hike.
Guests can choose between two short and sweet hikes so this is the perfect morning out with family and friends.
Hike 1: Dams
A beginner and child friendly 2km meander around the Glenbrook dam. This hike follows a mostly single file trail and showcases some of the most magnificent wildflowers in the park. Conclude with a short hike to the National Park Falls if you would like to extend it slightly.
Hike 2: Tunnels
A beginner friendly and wheelchair friendly 5km return hike to the earliest railway tunnel in West Australian’s history, the iconic Swan View Tunnel still standing at over 250 metres. **Please note that the tunnel itself is not pram and wheelchair friendly, however you will still enjoy the impact of the tunnel, and rejoin the group very shortly after. You will still always have a guide with you.
Want to do both? Join us for the Tunnels AND Dams tour, which departs 30 minutes earlier, and can be found HERE
*Please note that entry fees to the National park are NOT included in your ticket, as this is a per vehicle price ($15 on arrival). We highly recommend a membership with WA Parks Foundation, where you can save 50% on a Parks Pass and enter the National Parks of WA as often as you like in a 12 month period. Have a look HERE.
Get ready to encounter the sights and sounds of birds, reptiles, frogs, and kangaroos, as the first part of our tour takes us along the heritage trail of the old railway line and into the darkness of the famous Swan View Tunnel. This section of the hike is 5km and is a return trail before we begin the Glenbrook dam trail.
Part two of the hike sees the beautiful Glenbrook dam, hidden cozily in the National Park. Meander on this short 2-3km loop around the dam and take in the beauty of the water, the natural bushland, and the winding trail.
