Join us on this collaborative tour experience by two of Perth’s best tour companies, The Hike Collective and Two Feet & a Heartbeat. Experience one of the most interesting hiking trails in the city limits, as we hike along the scenic “Wardun Beeliar Bidi” Trail, making up a section of the Whadjuk Trail network. Enjoy some of the richest and interesting historical stories that date back to World War 2 as we hike, and enjoy a private guided tour of the Leighton Battery Tunnels at our half way point, along with thirst quenching cold pressed juices before returning on our hike to a secluded beach to cool your feet.

  • A 45 minute private tour of the Leighton Battery Tunnels, that were made to defend the Western Coastline from potential invasions carved by hand during WW2.

  • A take home digital trail map of the entire Whadjuk Trail network so you can hike the entire trail.
  • Our personal recommendations for local cafes and restaurants to enjoy a well deserved meal or coffee post hike.

Tour Itinerary

Enjoy the first half of your hike as we hike along the Whadjuk Trail Network from Chidley Reserve to the Leighton Battery bunkers. Enjoy riverside views, and cool breezes.


Enjoy some of the richest and interesting historical stories that date back to World War 2 as we hike, and enjoy a private guided tour of the Leighton Battery Tunnels at our half way point. Quench your thirst with locally produced cold pressed juices before we head back on our return hike.


We head back on the return section of the trail to a secluded beach to cool your feet.

What To Bring

  • Comfortable shoes such as trainers
  • Water bottle (at least 1L)
  • Sun protection and hat
  • Although dogs are allowed on the hike, there is a 45 minute tunnel tour where they are not allowed.

Additional Information

Toilets at the start, middle, and end of the tour.
No National Park entry fees apply.
There is ample parking and check in will be next to the main carpark at Chidley Reserve.
This hike is considered grade one as the trail follows a bitumen track for most of the way, so it is wheelchair friendly, however the distance of 9km with some undulating gradient makes it a true grade 2.
No-shows and cancellations received within 48 hours of hike departure will incur a 100% cancellation fee.

Cancellations within 2-7 days prior will incur a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations received over 7 days in advance will receive a full refund or credit towards another hike experience. Please note that Rezdy fees are non refundable. Guests can transfer their booking to a friend with no penalty but must advise The Hike Collective so we can forward all booking information to the new attendee.

If The Hike Collective cancels an event due to weather or danger in any way, your ticket will automatically be moved to the new date, or you will be eligible to transfer amounts paid to another tour or receive a full refund.
