    Tour Overview

The Perth Hills isn’t just a place—it’s a feeling. It’s the scent of jarrah after the rain, the crunch of dirt underfoot, and the rush of standing on a ridgeline, looking out over an endless sea of forest. It’s waterfalls tumbling through ancient valleys, wildflowers bursting to life along the trail, and crisp morning air filling your lungs.

Wanderfest Perth Hills is your chance to experience it all. This five-trail hiking series—brought to life by Perth Hills Tourism Alliance and Destination Perth, with support from the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries—takes you deep into the heart of the region.

From Armadale to Kalamunda, Mundaring to Serpentine-Jarrahdale, and across Swan, you’ll step into landscapes rich in history, overflowing with breathtaking views, and brimming with the kind of nature that stays with you long after your boots hit the dirt. Whether you’re chasing adventure, craving a little solitude, or simply looking for a new trail to wander, WanderFest is your invitation to slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect.

Wanderfest Armadale – Settlers Common Seniors Focussed Guided Hike

Slow down, breathe deep, and soak in the beauty of Armadale Settlers Common as the late afternoon light bathes the bush in gold. This gentle 4.5km loop trail, nestled in the foothills of the Darling Scarp, offers a relaxed and seniors-friendly hiking experience, perfect for those looking to reconnect with nature at an easy pace.

As part of the WanderFest Perth Hills series, this guided walk invites you to explore the rich biodiversity of Settlers Common, where towering jarrah and marri trees provide shelter for a symphony of birdlife. Keep an eye out for Western Grey Kangaroos grazing in the open clearings, the flash of Western Spinebills darting among the shrubs, and the distinctive call of Red-tailed Black Cockatoos soaring overhead.

Springtime transforms the trail into a wildflower wonderland, with bursts of Matted Triggerplants and bright orange blooms of the Nuytsia (WA’s native Christmas tree) adding colour to the landscape. With an experienced guide leading the way, you’ll hear stories of the land, learn about the flora and fauna that thrive here, and enjoy a leisurely walk designed for comfort and connection.

This trail is perfect for those who enjoy a relaxed pace, scenic surroundings, and good company. Whether you’re a seasoned walker or new to hiking, this is a chance to immerse yourself in nature, take in stunning views, and enjoy the magic of the Perth Hills without the rush.

The WanderFest Perth Hills series is proudly supported by the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries, helping to create vibrant, inclusive, and connected WA communities through outdoor adventure.

Join us for a twilight wander through Settlers Common and rediscover the simple joy of walking in nature.

    What our guests are saying

    • Awesome guided walk

My husband, son and I along with friends, a group of around 11 of us walked the Victoria Dam/Korung National Park hike (Bickley area) late yesterday afternoon/early evening. Kelly, our guide was most informative about the history of this remote area. First time we had hiked with Hike Collective, felt very safe despite the walk being of a moderate rated walk, very hilly at times, 7kms (approx) ending up at Victoria Dam which was truly spectacular. Great to get out and about in our own 'back yard', especially with a guide. Will definitely be hiking again with this company, thanks so much.

    • Great Hike!

Hike guides are organised and well informed. Lots of information about the local area, its history and plenty of opportunities to take photos. Love that you can do the hike "your" way while knowing that there is support and advice if needed.

Thanks Kate and crew for another fantastic hike.
