Two years of no travel and no tourism, and now I f Two years of no travel and no tourism, and now I find myself in conversation with our WA premier, @mark_mcgowan_mp in Rome, Italy!

This is a huge moment for Western Australian Tourism, as the direct PERTH-ROME Flight launches and allows direct access to Europe.

I am so excited to see how tourism in WA bounces back, and thrilled to be here to launch these flights with fellow tour operators. #italy #qantas #fly #tourism #tourismwa #seerome #seeperth #adventureawaits #waroadshow #thisiswa @westernaustralia

Join us on the 90-year anniversary of the record-b Join us on the 90-year anniversary of the record-breaking John Forrest National Park hike. (Don’t worry there won’t be 2600 of us) We want to celebrate with a hike through Australia’s first National Park, where the fun began 90 years ago, and enjoy a ‘walk in good company’.

🌳 Why the term “A walk in good company“? Cornish men claim the word “Hike” to be an old word meaning to walk in good company, which we find quite fitting!

🌳 The Australian Record was set at the John Forrest National Park on July 3, 1932. A communal hike of 2,600 enthusiasts, easily eclipsed the figure of 230 claimed by New South Wales.

It took three crowded trains from Fremantle, one consisting of fourteen coaches and two of ten each, to transport participants. It was a picturesque sight as they pulled out of Fremantle station, one after the other…

“Stay-at-homes all along the line rushed out and stood on their doorsteps waving as the long lines of carriages puffed by. No doubt, many were a little regretful that they, too, had not donned their walking shoes and turned out for the occasion.”

At every wayside station, little groups of people were waiting to be taken aboard. So that when the crowd eventually detrained at Parkerville, it was thoroughly representative of the whole Perth metropolitan area.

“There was not a single sour face among the whole light-hearted throng. It was a great advertisement for the National Park and an even greater tribute to the word ‘hike.’ Which Cornish men claim to be an old word meaning to walk in good company.”

🌳 Dress to hike, to walk, or fancy it up and dress in your Sunday ‘old-fashioned’ best, and enjoy a hike from 8km to 12km through the picturesque John Forrest National Park. Enjoy a sip of hot cocoa and traditional morning tea to finish.
Don’t forget to look up ⬆️ When you wander Don’t forget to look up ⬆️

When you wander the trails, do you often look up? 👀 or do you simply March on?

Remember that the trail offers a 720 degree view (get it? 360 degrees up/down and left/right!) so make sure you get the best value while you’re out there!

There is something pretty magical about practicing yoga followed by a glorious hike with friends.

A journey shared is a journey ever more memorable and precious!

Over the weekend we got to spend some pretty special time with amazing groups of wonderful women as they came together to spend time together through the practice of yoga and hiking.

We are grateful to be able to share these moments with you!

42% of travellers on the trails with us so far in 42% of travellers on the trails with us so far in 2022 have been solo hikers!

🌳 Your trail journey is so unique, and we get asked all the time if people come alone.

🌳 In complete honesty, this is actually the reason we exist! To create a safe space for solo hikers and adventurers to explore the trails!

🌳 Once upon a time, I went for a hike alone and hated it. (not that everybody hates hiking alone, but I did.) I didn't like not knowing what might happen, or what if I hurt myself, or what If I got lost... So the hike collective idea was born. Long story short, I wanted to create that space for solo hikers to connect with others, to feel safe if they didn't fancy hiking alone, and to give the community aspect that hiking is so rich in!

🌳 So to the 42% of hikers joining us without a friend, a mate, or a partner; we got you!

🌳 And chances are, you might even leave your trail journey with life long friendships! *Shout out to the Hiking Ladies. A group of 8-10 (and growing!) women who all came along as solo hikers, and now have their very own group and head out on the trails together frequently!

🌳We promise, join us on your own, and you will enjoy the community that huddles around you.
