Tour Overview

We invite you to experience Rottnest Island by foot on our 12km guided hike.  Traverse spectacular coastal headlands, past stunning inland lakes and encounter both natural and man-made attractions along the way.

From “walking on water’ boardwalks, to a dip in the big blue at Little Parakeet Bay or the Basin, famous shipwrecks, and a little journey of the Islands lighthouses, this one-day island adventure is the perfect way to experience the highlights of Rottnest in a bite-sized chunk.

We start our journey on the Gabbi Karniny Bidi ” Discover the Salt Lakes”  with some of the best views on the Island. From Vlamingh Lookout you’ll gain a real perspective of what you’ll find beyond the Settlement.

We then head on to Lake Baghdad where we can stop to watch the birds dancing on the Salt Lakes. These lakes have been recognised as Wetlands of National Importance.  Head onto the Lakes Boardwalk to experience the illusion of walking on water. The boardwalk safeguards the significant samphire communities below.  We detour up to the Wadjemup Lighthouse where we stop for a light refreshment and a moment to enjoy the beautiful view from the highest point on the island, before returning to the trail and heading to the Northern beaches.

As the day warms up, we get to cool down as we head onto Little Parakeet bay. Kick-off your shoes and walk along the calm waters of Little Parakeet Bay in the beautiful clear turquoise waters before heading onto Geordie Bay, Longreach Bay and to The Basin, one of the Island’s most popular swimming spots.

We finish our hiking tour back at the main settlement.

FERRY TICKETS AND ISLAND ADMISSION FEES
Choose to add ferry tickets on to your booking and we will take care of the booking. This includes both the ferry ticket price and Island admission fees for a single day on the island. HOW HARD IS IT?
This hike is a grade 3/6. This means it is suitable for families but we recommend a moderate fitness level as some inclines and beach walking are included on this tour. If you want to challenge yourself, but are unsure if you can manage the full trail, there are options to shorten this hike to a manageable 8km, and take out the incline and sand hiking.

No-shows and cancellations received within 48 hours of hike departure will incur a 100% cancellation fee.

Cancellations within 2-7 days prior will incur a 50% cancellation fee. Cancellations received over 7 days in advance will receive a full refund or credit towards another hike experience. Please note that Rezdy fees are non refundable. Guests can transfer their booking to a friend with no penalty but must advise The Hike Collective so we can forward all booking information to the new attendee.

If The Hike Collective cancels an event due to weather or danger in any way, your ticket will automatically be moved to the new date, or you will be eligible to transfer amounts paid to another tour or receive a full refund.
