    Experience Details

A narrative field investigation set across one of Western Australia’s most extraordinary island environments. Built around the journal of a lost mariner, and around the dynamics that determine whether your team actually functions under pressure, or just appears to.

    The island is the conditions.

Most teams arrive at a corporate experience somewhere in the early stages of their real development. They know each other professionally. They can describe each other’s roles. But they haven’t yet had the conditions that build genuine trust.  Wadjemup creates those conditions. The Lost Captain is a narrative field investigation built around the island’s terrain, tidal history, and coastal story. Teams navigate independently using physical maps, decode layered riddles tied to real island locations, and complete place-based challenges that require observation, reasoning, and genuine team coordination, not just whoever talks loudest.

The terrain removes the performance of the office. What’s left is how your people actually function.

Woven into the investigation is a hidden fleet mechanic, a structured moment of inter-team negotiation where teams must decide whether to share intelligence with rivals to progress, or protect it and find another way. It’s a designed pressure point that surfaces what team development research consistently identifies as the real indicators of high function: how a group handles genuine uncertainty, whether trust has formed enough to allow honest disagreement, and who steps into leadership when there’s no assigned authority to defer to.Standard and Premium versions are available. The Premium experience adds challenge depth, a Cultural Welcome,  and a curated post-investigation gathering for groups that want the full island day.

Designed to reveal. Not to manufacture.
Trust doesn’t form in workshops, it forms when people face uncertainty together and choose to depend on each other anyway. The island provides the uncertainty. The investigation provides the dependence. The combination produces something a conference room can’t.
Every team has a formal hierarchy. Very few have clarity on who actually leads when the problem is ambiguous and the pressure is real. The investigation creates that moment repeatedly, and without the office politics that usually frame the answer before it’s even given.
A strategic experience with a narrative wrapper.
Your group experiences this as a compelling investigation. What’s also happening is a live read of team dynamics at the trust-building and goal-clarification stages of group development. If you want that layer surfaced in a debrief, we do that. If you want the outcomes to arrive quietly without a formal debrief, we do that too. Either way, the experience is designed with intent, not assembled from a template.
