Welcome to part four in the 6-part series of Six Seasons Trails. Embark on a journey through Bungendore Park during the Djeran season, a time of transition marked by cooler nights and gentle southerly breezes. Spanning April and May, Djeran heralds the arrival of red flowers, including the striking Red Flowering Gum and the petite Summer Flame. Banksias begin to bloom, providing essential nectar for birds and small mammals, while Sheoaks display their rust-coloured cones, painting the landscape with vibrant hues.
This 8-kilometre trail winds through the jarrah-marri forests, wandoo woodlands, and groves of Banksias, Casuarinas, and parrot bushes that make Bungendore Park a sanctuary for rare flora and fauna. Along the way, listen for the calls of endangered cockatoos, such as the Baudin’s and Carnaby’s, and the songs of scarlet robins and honeyeaters. Be on the lookout for some of the park’s 38 species of reptiles and 10 species of frogs, adding to the rich biodiversity that defines this area.
Bungendore Park, whose name means “place of gum blossom” and “top of hill,” was once a significant hunting ground for the Whadjuk people. As you explore, you’ll discover the stories embedded in its landscape and gain insight into the cultural and natural rhythms of this season.
The Djeran Bidi experience is moderately challenging loop that invites you to connect with nature through breathtaking views, rare wildlife encounters, and vibrant floral displays. Cool mornings with dew-covered leaves make this the perfect time to immerse yourself in Bungendore Park’s unique ecosystem.
The Six Seasons Trail Series is in partnership with major supporter, City of Armadale.

Your friendly guide will meet you in the carpark at the entry to Dryandra Drive, off Admiral Road in Bedfordale. We will also send you more information on getting there closer to your booking date.
My husband, son and I along with friends, a group of around 11 of us walked the Victoria Dam/Korung National Park hike (Bickley area) late yesterday afternoon/early evening. Kelly, our guide was most informative about the history of this remote area. First time we had hiked with Hike Collective, felt very safe despite the walk being of a moderate rated walk, very hilly at times, 7kms (approx) ending up at Victoria Dam which was truly spectacular. Great to get out and about in our own 'back yard', especially with a guide. Will definitely be hiking again with this company, thanks so much.
Great day out with the Hike Collective Team. Look forward to the next one.
Hike guides are organised and well informed. Lots of information about the local area, its history and plenty of opportunities to take photos. Love that you can do the hike "your" way while knowing that there is support and advice if needed.
Thanks Kate and crew for another fantastic hike.
