Top 5 Perth Hikes For Beginners
A shout out to all our first timers, beginner walkers and start out explorers!
Everyone has to start out somewhere, just like all The Hike Collective leaders did and now we are here to help you explore your first trail. For the Summer season, here is our top pick for you to check out. Any questions just send us a DM or if you don’t want to go alone jump onto our website and join one of our many beginner friendly hikes.
LAKE LESCHENAULTIA || Chidlow || 3km loop
It’s not only one of the Hike Collective’s favourites, but a favourite of Perth’s. With multiple distances to hike and views of Lake Leschenaultia and beautiful bushlands, we can understand why. Don’t forget to bring your bathers and get in early for one of those BBQ’s on the lake.
GLEN BROOK WALK || John Forrest National Park || 2.4km loop
A winding, single track that takes you from the Rangers office, up and around Glen Brook Dam and back to base. It’s a beautiful 2.4km trail with plenty of views to stop and enjoy. You can even enjoy a paddle in the dam for something different, however swimming is prohibited.
LAW WALK || Kings Park || 2.5km loop
The Law Walk is one of Perth’s most unique trails which will take you through lush bushland, over skyscraping steel bridges and through Westralia’s Botanic Gardens. YOu will also get to witness views of the Swan River, Perth City and the South Perth Foreshore. Warning, there is one moderate climb on the walk but we think it’s the perfect opportunity to test those legs on your first hiking adventure.
ARALUEN BOTANIC PARK || Roleystone || 4.5km loop
A Perth Hill’s reserve that recently had an upgrade, now offers a 4.5km loop trail that will take you through unique bushland never to be hiked before – now that sounds worth exploring! The Hike Collective was recently announced the exclusive tour operator for the trail and tickets are now available here!
BUTTERFLIES, BIRDS & BRIDGES WALK || Canning River Park || 4.5km loop
The most scenic of the Canning River trails, this walk takes you along a dual use pathway through paperbark forests, natural woodlands, up and around creeks and rivers. With plenty of picnic spots, bird-watching platforms and a cool kayak trail on the river, this is a great spot to make a day of it and relax.
The Hike Collective is looking forward to helping you find your feet on the trail, sand, or footpath, with a highly supportive and friendly team, here to help you find movement, connection, and nature. See you on the trail!
