We invite you to experience the best nature-based views of Perth City as the sun says farewell for another day, on this charismatic 4km guided hike of Lesmurdie Falls and the winding trails.

A short 30 minutes from the Perth CBD, and nestled in the heart of Kalamunda, this iconic gem showcases one of the more spectacular waterfalls in the Darling Range escarpment while carving space for you to enjoy a bite-sized chunk of adventure on the trails.

With two fantastic view platforms at the top of the falls, and the opportunity to marvel at the beauty of the falls from below, there is an abundance of opportunities to absorb your natural surroundings, before meandering to the hidden lookout to sip a naked spritz and press pause as the sun sets over the ocean.

Your friendly guide will meet you at the Lesmurdie Falls Picnic area on Falls Road to begin your tour. We will also send you more information on getting there closer to your booking date. This is a popular spot for sunset sometimes, so arrive early to ensure a parking spot. If the main bitumen carpark is full, there are two more gravel carparks back towards the main road, with a short walk to our meeting point. Please ensure you have the correct carpark, we will be meeting at the TOP of the falls.

A wonderful Sunday Hike
The guides were very knowledgeable about flora, fauna and first-nations people history. I learned a lot and had a wonderful time. They set a good pace and were very aware of the ability of the guests. A wonderful way to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. We will definitely go again.

What is the difficulty level of the Lesmurdie Falls at Sunset Hike?
The hike is rated as beginner to intermediate. It includes some steep sections and uneven terrain, so a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. However, we take the pace slow to allow everyone to enjoy the experience.
How long is the hike, and how much time should I allocate?
The hike is approximately 4 kilometers long and takes around 2 hours to complete, including time to enjoy the sunset views and take photos.
What should I bring with me on the hike?
Please bring water, comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and a jacket as it can get chilly after sunset. A small snack is also a good idea. We recommend bringing a torch or headlamp for the walk back after sunset.
What time does the hike start, and where is the meeting point?
The hike typically starts 1.5 to 2 hours before sunset. The exact start time will be provided upon booking. The meeting point is the main car park at Lesmurdie Falls National Park.
Is the hike suitable for children?
Yes, the hike is suitable for children aged 8 and above, provided they are comfortable with walking the distance and navigating some uneven terrain.
Can I bring my dog on the hike?
Yes, dogs are permitted on this hike as long as they are on leads at all times.
Will there be rest stops during the hike?
Yes, we make several stops along the trail to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and rest. The main rest point is at the top of Lesmurdie Falls, where we watch the sunset.
What if the weather is bad on the day of the hike?
Safety is our top priority. In the event of severe weather, such as heavy rain or thunderstorms, the hike may be postponed or canceled. We will notify you as early as possible and offer alternative dates or a refund.
Is there mobile phone reception along the hike?
Mobile reception can be patchy in some areas of the trail, so we recommend letting someone know your plans before the hike.
What is included in the hike?
The hike includes a guided tour by an experienced and knowledgeable guide, stunning views of the Perth skyline and surrounding landscape, and ample opportunities for photography, especially at sunset. We also provide a sneaky non-alcoholic beverage and treat at sunset.
Are there restroom facilities available?
There are restroom facilities at the start of the hike in the car park area. However, there are no facilities along the trail, so please use the facilities before we begin.
Can I book a private group hike?
Yes, we offer private group bookings. Please contact us directly to arrange a customized experience for your group.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the hike will receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the hike may not be eligible for a refund.
