    The Lost Botanist Overview

Some discoveries were never meant to disappear.

Somewhere in Kings Park, a botanist left behind a mystery.

Her field notes are incomplete. Her final discovery is missing. And scattered through the Western Australian Botanic Garden is a trail of clues that may reveal what happened.  For the next two hours, Kings Park becomes your game board.

Armed with a field journal, map, and a handful of curious botanical evidence, teams set out to follow the trail. But there are no arrows pointing the way and no Google Maps to rescue you.  Instead, the landscape holds the answers.  Look closely, as everything might matter.

Each discovery unlocks the next, leading teams deeper through the gardens as they solve botanical riddles, crack ciphers, navigate by observation and piece together fragments of the Lost Botanist’s final field notes.

Some clues reward logic, while others reward curiosity. And a few are deliberately designed for the person in your team who notices the tiny, seemingly irrelevant thing everyone else walked straight past, because this isn’t a race around Kings Park collecting answers. It’s a living investigation, woven into one of the world’s great inner-city parks.

The fun really turns up a notch when something interesting starts happening to the team itself.  Someone unexpected becomes an excellent navigator. People argue passionately over a seed pod. Someone refuses to sacrifice two points for a hint. And suddenly a group of grown adults is standing beneath a banksia debating a 60-year-old botanical mystery as though the fate of Western Australia depends upon it.

    Exactly as intended.

    More than team building

The Lost Botanist quietly puts communication, observation, problem-solving and leadership into play without turning them into exercises.

There are no trust falls or fluorescent name tags, no hotel conference room with the chairs pushed to the side.

Just your people, a rather beautiful patch of Western Australia, and a mystery begging to be solved.

The park does the heavy lifting. Your team does the thinking. We create the magic.
