A dog-friendly social hike through Trigg. Your dog has been trying to introduce you to people for years. You keep ignoring the hints. This is a 4km hike through Trigg Bushland to the beach, where the dog does the icebreaking and you just enjoy the walk.
There’s something quietly genius about dogs at social events. They remove the two most awkward moments: the introduction and the first pause in conversation. One sniff and you’ve skipped straight to “what’s their name?” which, it turns out, is a perfectly good way to learn the owner’s name too.
Sniff & Stride is a Sunday morning hike through the native bushland of Trigg, finishing at one of Perth’s best dog beaches. 4.5km of coastal scrub, ocean views, and the kind of conversation that only happens when you’re walking side by side and nobody has to maintain eye contact.
The guide knows the trail. The dog knows what to do. All you need is a lead and a willingness to say yes to a Sunday morning that isn’t the couch.
Sniff & Stride is part of The Hike Collective’s Social Hike series – guided walks designed for people who want to actually meet other humans rather than nod at them on a footpath. Every walk is led by a fabulous host who knows the terrain, the wildlife, and the safety.
The route runs through Trigg Bushland Reserve – coastal scrub and banksia woodland with Indian Ocean views – finishing at Trigg Dog Beach, where your dog will experience what we can only describe as peak happiness.
Dog owners who want to meet other dog owners – Your dog already knows how to make friends. You just need to show up in the same location at the same time. We’ve handled the hard part.
Anyone whose social life could use a reboot – Walking next to someone for an hour is, neuroscientifically speaking, one of the most efficient ways to bond with another human. The dog just accelerates the timeline.
