    Tour Overview

The Six Seasons Trail invites you to experience the landscapes of Armadale through the changing rhythms of Whadjuk Noongar Boodja (Country). Winding through forests, wetlands, granite outcrops and creek lines, each trail reveals a different chapter of a landscape that has been shaped by nature and cared for by Whadjuk Noongar people for thousands of years.

For Noongar people, the year is marked not by four seasons but by six, looking at changes in flowering plants, birdlife, rainfall and animal behaviour, signalling the time to
move, gather, care for Boodja and celebrate its abundance. These natural indicators continue to shape the landscape, offering a deeper understanding of the connections
between people, place and the environment. As you explore the Six Seasons Trail, take time to notice the subtle changes around you; the scent of eucalyptus after rain, the flowering of banksias, the call of native birds and the flow of creeks through the hills. Walk with curiosity, tread with respect, and discover a living landscape where culture, ecology and the passing seasons remain deeply connected.

Follow the Heritage Walk Trail through the sheltered valleys of Roley Pool Reserve where Djarlgarro (Canning River) winds between granite outcrops, towering jarrah and marri forest, and seasonal waterfalls bring the landscape to life after winter rains. The trail meanders beside flowing pools and shaded creek lines before climbing gently to reveal broader views across the surrounding bushland, with interpretive signage sharing the ecology, history and cultural significance of this remarkable place.

Roley Pool Reserve lies within Whadjuk Noongar Boodja (Country), part of a broader cultural landscape that has been cared for by Whadjuk Noongar people for thousands
of years. For Noongar people, Boodja is a living system of land, water, plants, animals and spirit, where waterways such as Djarlgarro have long connected people with
seasonal resources and neighbouring landscapes. The changing character of the reserve reflects the Noongar Six Seasons, where flowering plants, birdlife, rainfall and the movement of water signal the rhythms of Boodja. As the creek rises, the surrounding forest flourishes; when conditions become warmer and drier, the landscape transforms once again, revealing another chapter in the annual cycle that has guided understanding of this place for generations.

Today, the Heritage Walk Trail offers more than a scenic bushwalk. It’s an opportunity to experience a living landscape where river, forest and gorge continue to tell the story of Boodja, inviting you to slow your pace, observe the changing environment and explore Boodja with care and respect.

    What our guests are saying

    • Awesome guided walk

My husband, son and I along with friends, a group of around 11 of us walked the Victoria Dam/Korung National Park hike (Bickley area) late yesterday afternoon/early evening. Kelly, our guide was most informative about the history of this remote area. First time we had hiked with Hike Collective, felt very safe despite the walk being of a moderate rated walk, very hilly at times, 7kms (approx) ending up at Victoria Dam which was truly spectacular. Great to get out and about in our own 'back yard', especially with a guide. Will definitely be hiking again with this company, thanks so much.
