    Experience Overview

There is a particular feeling that lives on the other side of a Sunday morning walk with good people. You know it if you’ve had it. You’ve been craving it if you haven’t. It is the feeling of having done something, but the something was easy. It is the feeling of meeting people without the small talk grid of a networking event. It is your phone, untouched, in your pocket for three hours, and you didn’t even notice. It is laughing with a stranger by the 4th km. It is the rest of your Sunday opening up in front of you and feeling, for once, like enough.

    Here is what happens:

The trail is hand-picked for the season.  Wildflowers in August, spring light in November, salt air in February, autumn gold in May. You walk 5-8 kilometres at a pace that lets you actually talk. Your host knows the terrain, and the stories. Snacks and water at the halfway point, and a really good coffee at the finish at a local cafe if you wish to stick around a little longer.  You don’t need to be fit and you don’t need to know anyone. You don’t need hiking gear you don’t already own. All you need to do is show up.

    Why this exists

The Better Place Series is four of those Sundays a year. Built by The Hike Collective and Happiness Co Foundation.  Four trails across four seasons, one brilliantly low-stakes way to do something genuinely good for yourself and someone else at the same time.

This series is based on the principle that happiness is something you build, not something you wait for. We agreed on something simple: the most effective preventative mental health intervention in the published research is walking outside, with other people, for a couple of hours. We’ve both been doing it for years, so we thought we’d do it together.

$5 of every ticket goes directly to Happiness Co Foundation to fund their workshops, youth programs, and community sessions across WA.  You get a brilliant Sunday. They get to keep doing the work.
